Oh my goodness you’re amazing! I haven’t been a very diligent blogger this year, for a couple of reasons. Partly because I spent much of the first part of the year in the snake pit and the second half of the year getting stronger by climbing out. I’m out now, very happy, and quite well and balanced. Whilst there’s always the occasional wobble for everyone, thank you for messaging, calling and turning up on my doorstep with concerned questions, it was always going to be alright.
I truly believe we all have to have a really shitty period in our lives and deal with it properly when it happens. Otherwise, it gets shitter and shittier until it’s a shitpile bigger than the Taronga Zoo elephants’ backyard. One of my friends used to say “life throws little pebbles at you so catch them when you can, because if you don’t they get bigger and bigger until they’re rocks and they’ll take you out.” She was right.
We all have a Medusa head of snakes to deal with, what’s yours? You don’t have to tell me, just be honest with yourself. Listen to that still, small voice inside who knows and take a breath in the light of the day to find peace with it.
Anyway, thank YOU, for sticking with me over these lumpy writing times, for reading my blogs, for commenting, for sharing on Facebook, for being out there listening to what I have to say. I try to write as honestly as I can, and just quietly, I often pretend no one’s reading the blog so I can gloss over how vulnerable the raw disclosure makes me feel. I hope in writing my truth it helps you. I guess it does because you’re still here and you’ve sent private messages whispering “Oh..thank you me too. I feel less alone in my moment of madness now.” In the end, we all want to feel connected to someone who understands us, don’t we?
This year while all the shit was piling on, I was also building two beautiful businesses, The Kitchen Table, Financial Nourishment for Women and Arbonne, my wonderful online wellness and cosmetics business. I’ve reached for the sky with huge targets this year and touched many of them, so this is a moment to give my halo a little polish and give thanks to the people who’ve held me up and believed I could. (You)
You know, I’m proud of both businesses because whilst they’re not huge roles with big important titles, and they’re still in their early days cashflow wise, I’ve built them even while battling Medusa’s bloody snakes. Without any hesitation I can state that both businesses have changed my life; The Kitchen Table brings me into contact with many incredible women eager to learn new financial skills, and my business partner, Pete Foley at Thirdview has generously shared his many business skills and been a loyal and trusted friend to my husband and I. His hands on work with our clients has helped them to create more financially secure futures for themselves and their families, and that makes me (and them)(and Pete) very happy.
The Arbonne business has allowed me to help other people all over the world to start online businesses. I was always a bit cynical about the changing lives thing that company mission statements bang on about bla bla, but in this case I can fully slap myself around the temple with a wet kipper. Expansion has been gradual with NZ and UK being the first global forays, but goodness, to be able to do this from my laptop with minimal CapEx and risk (yes, yes, once a banker, always a banker) makes a different life and a new income stream accessible to so many people. The business has stretched me beyond the limits of the comfort zone I thought I had, and I know I’m a stronger, braver person because of it. Michelle Sutherland and Sarah Allen, you’ve become two of my closest friends and partners in growth, and I’m not sure I could ever find the words to express my gratitude to you. Yes, I know, Sassy has no words. That’s a first girls; take a bow.
So this is a gratitude blog, because gratitude changes lives and I’m grateful to YOU. All of you, and I’m filled with love.If that’s confronting for you, feel free to unfollow me, because I’m about keeping it real.
Please dear friend, may Pegasus and the unicorns grant you a wonderful 2017 filled with happiness, gratitude and love of your own.
