It’s Friday again; the weekend seems to come around faster now than a repeat bout of nits in spring.
Is it true that as we get older time speeds up, whereas when we’re kids it seems to stretch limitless ahead of us? Do you remember how it felt to imagine you had all the time in the world?
Sadly we don’t, so this weekend, let’s try to make the most of the time we have:
Go to bed earlier, get up earlier. Nothing much happens after 10pm anyway except bad tv, chocolate and too much to drink.
Hug someone you love. Have you noticed how time stands still when you’re hugging, how your breathing slows?
Chew each mouthful. Really savour and taste the love involved in the preparation of your meal.
Meditate. Even for five minutes. Try Buddhify from the app store – it’s my go-to (almost) free, quirky mind-sanctuary.
Make love. Even if you don’t feel like it to start with, you’ll get into it once you get going.
Pick flowers. Arrange them in a jam jar. It’s free and gorgeous.
Dance. Like a demon. Crank those tunes up and boogie in the kitchen.
If you can’t do any of those, simply look in the mirror and mutter “we’ve got this.” Because you have.
